This
small, historic mill is where Henri de Portal first
made paper for the Bank of England. Renowned for its
turbine once powering machinery at Laverstoke Mill,
the mill sits silent amid beautifully landscaped
grounds beside the River Test; with carriers and a
large lake next to a restored SSSI water meadow,
grazed by Welsh Mountain sheep, lambs and Belted
Galloway cattle. Riverside walks, species tulips,
Japanese prunus, peonies, wisteria collection,
roses, bog garden at its best in autumn. Double
perennial beds and swamp cypress avenue. Eastern
influence including Japanese Tea House, many
different riverside irises and unique bridges.
