Good Luck from the Isle of Wight

My thanks to Marian Zoupanou for her charming contribution. In her words, she “bought a whacky postcard for a black cat-loving pal of mine.”

It’s a fold up postcard from the Isle of Wight consisting of eight pictures of island scenes, including The Well House at Carisbrooke (see below)

Dated 30th May 1917, and with a ½p stamp affixed, the text on the front reads:-

Mailing Novelty

Printed Matter.  Shape passed by the GPO for ½p stamp.

Only Name and Address of Sender allowed.  If any other writing, Penny Stamp is required.

Clearly, Elsie & Jack didn’t want to spend a penny!!  Oh my, how times (and postage prices) have changed!!
