postcard for a black cat-loving pal of mine.”
It’s a
fold up postcard from the Isle of Wight consisting
of eight pictures of island scenes, including The
Well House at Carisbrooke (see below)
Dated
30th May 1917, and with a ½p stamp affixed,
the text on the front reads:-

Matter. Shape passed by the GPO for ½p stamp.
Only
Name and Address of Sender allowed. If any other
writing, Penny Stamp is required.
Clearly, Elsie & Jack didn’t want to spend a
penny!! Oh my, how times (and postage prices) have
changed!!
